Kodály Society of Nova Scotia

La musique à portée de tous !

Making music is an essential component of a child's life. One has only to reflect on past music classes, concerts, assemblies and impromptu singing sessions to be reminded of the delight, emotional satisfaction and the pure pleasure children derive from joyous music making. As teachers of music, it is our mission to provide our students with many opportunities for engagement in quality music experiences.

About KQc

Our Mission

Founded in 1985, the Kodály Society of Ontario is a group of Ontario music educators dedicated to assisting teachers to teach music in the classroom. Our philosophy of music education comes from the Hungarian ethnomusicologist Zoltan Kodály.

Kodály pedagogy seeks to develop students’ voices, ears, hearts, and minds, while developing the learner’s musical and cultural understanding using an active, sequential approach to music making. Through leadership, mentorship, and professional development in the music education philosophy inspired by Zoltan Kodály, MKS strives to be a support for the music educators in Manitoba.

Land Acknowledgement

The Kodály Society of Ontario acknowledges that there are 46 treaties and other agreements that cover the territory now called Ontario. We are thankful to be able to work, live, and make music in these territories. We are thankful to the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people who have cared for these territories since time immemorial and who continue to contribute to the strength of Ontario and to all communities across the province.
